Natural Chiropractic Treatment for Low Back Pain | Chiropractor for Low Back Pain in Greer, SC

Hi, I’m Dr. Chris Ehlich from Ehlich Family Chiropractic in Greer, South Carolina, Dr. Beth Ehlich and myself, we established our practice in March of 1990. And today’s video, we’re going to talk about how we go about helping people with chiropractic treatment for low back pain.

The first thing we’re going to do when a patient comes in with lower back pain is we’re gonna do a complete thorough health history. We’re going to find out what their concerns are, what their health problems are, and what their health goals are and what they’d like to achieve. We’re also going to do a complete chiropractic examination on you as well. And that’s gonna help us determine where the core problem is and where the problem areas in your back are. We’re also going to do what we call digital X rays. And the reasons we want to do X rays is to make sure that it’s safe to adjust, and that you’re a candidate for chiropractic care that you don’t have any underlying diseases or pathology that would prevent you from receiving care in our office. We also want to do the X rays to identify the core problem and where we need to adjust. And that’s important to make sure that you are chiropractic case and that we can help you.

Now, after we’ve gathered all this information, our doctors are going to take some time to review that information, study that information and come up with the best plan help you get better. We’ll bring you back in on another day. And we’ll review those results with you. If we think we can help you we’ll tell you that and we’ll get started with some treatment. If we don’t think we can help you we’ll talk to you about that. We’ll tell you that and we’ll also try to guide you where you need to go to get some help. Now after we do all that, we’re gonna go over your results with you.

One of the most common causes of low back pain that we find is is called subluxation. You see here these are two bones in their proper alignment. And this is a disc this is the nerve and there’s a hole for the nerve to come out of. Now, subluxation is when these bones come out of alignment due to macro or micro traumas. When that happens, it can begin to pinch that nerve. When it pinches the nerve, it can cause pain, or it can cause functional problems, like numbness or tingling, muscle spasms, tightness, or weakness. Now it’s important to get this problem fixed the subluxation not just to cover it up with pain pills and muscle relaxers and anti inflammatories. So one of the ways that we address this problem is a three pronged approach. We call it the three legged stool. One is final adjustments. One is corrective exercises, and one is helping you identify and break your bad habits. So we’ll talk about what a spinal adjustment is, and what’s actually happening inside your body when we do a spinal adjustment, and how it not only helps your body feel better, but how it helps your body heal better.

So you can see here where this nerve right here is getting pinched. And so these bones have come out of alignment and the disc is putting pressure on the nerve. And when we do a spinal adjustment, we’re going to put a specific force into a specific vertebra. And we’re going to move that vertebra and when we do that we reduce the subluxation. And that allows the nerve flow to begin to communicate better between the brain and the body takes pressure off of it to help your body heal and function better. So one of the things that we also use are called corrective exercises. Now the benefit of doing the corrective exercises is to strengthen the small muscles around your spine to help you hold your alignment better and help improve your posture. And then the last thing we try to encourage you to do is to work on your bad habits you need to identify your bad habits and work on those that are causing undue stress to your spine that may be contributing to some of the macro and micro traumas that call subluxation in your spine.
